Santa’s bid adieu and the countdown for NYE has begun. A hungover you is probably wondering how on earth would you fit into that pair of skinny leather pants or the sequined LBD you swore to rock on NYE, after the Christmas binge?
But fret not as we’ve got you covered with 5 ways to get back in shape in 5 days:
Eyes on the prize: Before we get into workout routine and recipes, it’s important to set a focused goal (your LBD). Write down your goal in bold letters or take a picture and paste it on your mirror as a reminder. This will keep you motivated to stay on tracks and to keep your eyes on the prize.
Choose breakfast over sleep: Studies show that a hearty breakfast increases the production of leptin, a hormone that suppresses appetite. But a healthy breakfast can be yummy too! Toss up a bowl of non-fat Greek yogurt topped with walnuts/a handful of berries/sliced banana slices/a pack of chikoo frubites. Or if you can’t sacrifice sleep, prepare the overnight oats topped with chopped bananas/a pack of the healthiest fruit snacks, such as banana Frubites and leave it in the fridge the night before. Craving some fluffy cheese omelets? Here’s a healthy alternative- two egg-whites with spinach, cherry tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese.
Break up with high-calorie food: Choose low calorie, but filling food options. If you don't feel satiated after a meal, you're more likely to prowl around the kitchen, hunting for unhealthy munchies. But, instead of a salsa platter, opt for leafy-green salads rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants or 100 gm of grilled chicken which only has about 100 calories or a soulful plate of rajma (minus the chawal), a complex carbohydrate, which promises sustained energy levels.
Get a hang on your coffee addiction: Replace the morning cuppa with green tea. Coffee makes you bloated, as coffee dehydrates the body, prompting it to retain more water. Switch over to green tea, which has both caffeine and antioxidants and doesn’t dehydrate your system.
Snack smartly: Substitute calorie- and carb- loaded festive snacks with natural dry fruits, popcorn or all-natural fruit snacks like a pack of Frubites. And pair it with increased daily activity in order to burn the pent-up calories. Making simple lifestyle changes such as walking or biking to work, taking the stairs, going for walks, and moving more help to burn extra calories.
Your body is your wonderland and keeping it fit is the ultimate New Year resolution. Follow the above tips for not only 5 days to fit into the party bodycon, but also incorporate them in your lifestyle to unveil a healthier version of yourself.
